Why Dear Family exists
Born from two different
kinds of love.
None of our four kids ever got to meet my parents. Not Ryan. Not Owen. Not Zoe. Not Andrew. Not one of them.
They'll grow up never knowing their grandparents' voices. Never hearing their stories. Never getting to feel loved in that specific way that only grandparents can love you. That's something I carry every single day — in the middle of ordinary moments, when I least expect it.
And then there's Joel's family.
His parents — Tim and Carol — have been married almost 60 years. They're both turning 80 this year. They have 6 children, 19 grandchildren, and they just became great-grandparents for the very first time.
They are here. They are present. They are extraordinary.
And we made a decision — we are going to capture them. With intention. While we have every opportunity to do it well. Not just in photos. In their voices. Their wisdom. Their faith. The things they've learned that the people who love them most deserve to carry forever.
"We built this because we know what it means to have it — and what it costs not to."
Dear Family is how you capture the people you love, their voice, their stories, the things they want you to know right now, while you have every opportunity. A message for a wedding day. A message for a hard day. A message that says: I was here, I loved you, and now you have this. Forever.
If someone in your life has something left to say, this is how they say it. Forever.
